Approximately 60 residents, representing over 11 different New York area programs, participated in a biomechanics seminar and workshop at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New York City on April 18, 2015.

Dr. Marc Benard, Executive Director of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, lectured on biomechanical considerations of the adult and pediatric flat foot as well as management of complex club foot.  He  also provided a practical biomechanics workshop which included both static and dynamic patient evaluation and gait analysis. Dr. Benard shared that biomechanical evaluation is essential to proper decision making in non-surgical and surgical patient care.  The presentation was very well received by all in attendance.

Dr. Steven Goldman, member of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine’s Executive Board,  presented details on the board certification process, including its relevance and importance to career development.  This event was co-sponsored by a grant from the APMSA Corporate Advisory Board as well as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
