NYCPM Student Volunteers at Boot Fit

Three of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine’s Diplomates, Drs. Robert Eckles, Loretta Logan, and Russell Volpe participated in the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) West Point Cade Boot Fit Program. Approximately 50 NYCPM student volunteers joined forces with volunteers from Temple University, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), and Novel (a corporate partner from Germany) to conduct a large-scale data collection at the Boot Fit for the incoming 2019 Cadet Class at West Point. 1,175 out of 1,263 cadets consented to participate in the research study, which measured arch height, analyzed gait and foot structure function, and compiled a foot posture index of the cadets as they waited to be fitted for their boots.

Seven faculty members led the NYCPM team – Eileen D. Chusid, PhD, Robert A. Eckles, DPM, Johanna Godoy, DPM, Loretta M. Logan, DPM, Susan M. Rice, DPM, Michael J. Trepal, DPM, andRussell G. Volpe. Kurtis Bertram and Loretta Cacace were the student coordinators.
