TRaIN Conference On Avoiding Amputation Led by Founding Dean, Dr. Lawrence Harkless
A Tuesday Rounds and Intercollegial Networking (TRaIN) Conference on the topic “Prioritizing Risk Factors to Avoid Amputation” was provided January 5, 2016 by Founding Dean, Lawrence B. Harkless. The learning objectives included (1) citing the risk factors for ulcers; (2) Listing the risk spectrum for vascular disease; (3) predicting the likelihood for limb salvage versus amputation based on the vascular risk spectrum.
Visiting Faculty included Darren Saltzman, MD from the Chief and General Surgery Residency Program and student rotations for Podiatric Medical Students at Olive View UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Carson, Chief of Vascular Surgery at the VA, Sacramento, Sara Dahle, DPM Chief of Podiatry at the VA, Sacramento, and John Williams, DPM at the VA Sacramento. This is a weekly conference that is provided via the web with participants from WesternU CPM Faculty and students as well as 3rd-year students from The Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
Dr. Sara Dahle since 2012 has been board certified with the ABPM since 1994, Dr. Lawrence Harkless, and Dr. Lester Jones since 1985.
