ABPM Organized a Biomechanic Symposium for New York Podiatric Residents
Podiatric residents representing several New York area programs participated in an American Board of Podiatric Medicine organized seminar, workshop, and presentation at the Nassau Medical Center in East Meadow, NY on April 23, 2016. ABPM President Dr. Steven Goldman, ABPM Past President Michael Dellacorte and Dr. Marc Benard, ABPM Executive Director, participated in the presentation. Dr. Benard covered the surgical and nonsurgical application of biomechanical principles in adult and pediatric patients, with topics that included pes cavus, pes planus, tendon transfer, equinus and orthotic prescription writing (assisted by Scott Marshall of KLM Orthotic Laboratory). Dr. Benard also provided a workshop on the pediatric examination, utilizing several children provided by faculty member Dr. Robert Stabile. Drs. DellaCorte and Goldman discussed board certification in today’s health care environment its importance to career development. They also covered specifics related to the ABPM certification process. The presentation was very well received by all in attendance.
