Jeremy Cook, DPM, ABPM Diplomate, to Speak at Hospital Symposium
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Dignity Health Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is hosting a free Diabetes Symposium and Health Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19th at the hospital. The drop-in event is designed for individuals living with diabetes, and will feature tools, tips, screenings, and education to help individuals monitor and manage their disease.
A presentation will be held at 10 a.m. by local podiatrist Dr. Jeremy Cook, who specializes in foot and ankle surgery, and recently took over the practice of Dr. Stephen Latter at Foothill Podiatry Clinic. The presentation addresses the risk of diabetic foot injury, which is particularly important for diabetics. According to Dr. Cook, poor circulation in the legs and feet and high blood sugar combine to slow the body’s healing mechanisms. Peripheral neuropathy, a common side-effect of diabetes, can cause numbness in the feet, leaving a person unaware that they are injured.
Jeremy Cook, DPM has been an ABPM Diplomate since 2015.
